Frequently Asked Questions

My child is nearly the next age range, should I buy the age they currently are or the next age pack?

The age ranges are a guide to when the activities will first become suitable for your child. They are the first card on the market which are adapted to show how to make each activity more challenging or easier, so I would recommend purchasing the age they are currently. This will ensure they have had an opportunity to master the developmental skills for their age range, without any gaps in their learning, but also can be challenged to extend their learning. You will find that just because your child turns the next age that they still love to play the activities on the previous pack and you can then move onto the next pack once you’re in need of more inspiration!

My child is over 8, can I still use the ideas in the learning through play cards?

Yes, yes, yes! There is no upper age limit when it comes to play and learning through play is the best way to engage children of all ages with their learning.

My Mummy Teacher specialises in supporting children from birth up to Year 2 (aged 0-7 years), as it is based around the National Curriculum and Early Years Framework.

It is important to note however, that each child is a unique individual. Not all children progress or develop as expected by the National Curriculum and therefore some older children, children with gaps in their learning following the global pandemic, or children with Special Educational Needs will highly benefit from the activities provided in all ages of the learning through play cards! You may find that older siblings want to get involved and play with their young siblings too!

Parents and professionals of older children have also used many of the activities and ideas provided for after-school activities in a bid to reduce their child’s screen time whilst learning through play!

Should I do the activities on the cards more than once?

Definitely! Repetition is vital in supporting young children’s learning and development. Each idea is adapted to show you how to make the activity more challenging or easier so you can play over and over in lots of different ways!

Which pack should I buy to encourage siblings to play together?

If you are only purchasing one pack, I would suggest once they are over 1 buying the pack which is suitable for the youngest child in your care. This means all of your children will be safe to engage in the activities. Babies will need to have their own Newborn and 6 months + pack, but older toddlers and children can all play with the activities from 1+. Remember to check the arrows on the cards to show you how to adapt the activity so all your children can get involved!

Do I need to buy anything extra to complete the activities?

All of the activities are simple set ups, using items you most likely have at home already, such as, recycling materials, common toys like a toy car and household items such as pegs.
